#20 - Listening to the 23rd District (and comments)

Both candidates for Representative to Congress in the 23rd District say they will listen attentively to the voters in this district. That’s important because there are other voices in Washington — lobbyists, donors, party leaders, special interest groups, etc. Which candidate do you have more confidence in to represent you, Martha Robertson (Vote A) — OR Tom Reed (Vote B)?

Vote B
64% (18 votes)
Vote A
36% (10 votes)
Total voters: 28

Yes, indeed that may be true. However, many of us do not consider a fetus a human child until it can survive on its own.

I wonder why so many are pro fetus rather than pro life. Pro life advocates for services, food, education, safe housing, etc for babies and children already living.

I celebrate my CONSTITUTIONAL right to choice. My choice to decide what is best for me and my family. I find it very disturbing that anyone else would think they have the right to try to infringe on my constitutional rights. I find it equally disturbing that some feel they have a right to interfere with a medical decision that should be centered only between me and my doctor.

Not personal attack..except to ask why you think you have the right to have a higher power than our Supreme Court or to come between a woman and her doctor.

I find when people are unable to answer they come up with lots of wordy off the subject messages.

So the question is should Planned Parenthood be funded or not? You have given NO REASON at all not to fund an agency that provides basic health care, including cancer screenings, to thousands and thousands of women.

Justify why you wold take away basic health care to women ?

According to the Chiaroscuro Foundation Report, “Does Planned Parenthood Need or Deserve Federal Funds?,” March, 2011 "Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms and is not a significant primary care provider to women. Despite claims made by Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards and members of the media, Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms. They are also not a significant primary care provider in general. In recent reports, Planned Parenthood acknowledges that it provided primary care only to about 19,700 of its 3 million unduplicated clients. These services have been trending downward for years, from 21,247 in 2007 to 20,235 in 2008, to today’s 19,796."

A common point made by the pro-death movement it that when a "FETUS" is born it somehow magically becomes a "BABY"...and only then if the mother wants it. If this helpless newborn is not an innocent, living, human being living "INSIDE" the mother's womb...then how can it possibly become an innocent, living, human being "OUTSIDE" the mother's womb? If you're wondering why I'm using the phrase "innocent, Living, human being" it's because it is a scientific fact and nothing will ever change that universal truth.

A fetus is not considered a human being until it can survive on its own(?). Is this really a cogent defense? A new born baby does not become viable until he or she is able to survive on their own—is this what people would have you think? Using this logic the new born baby would not become viable until it reaches the age of 5-6 years old. Since a baby cannot obviously have the ability to survive on its own after birth without continuing constant human care and nurturing. It then would be ok for the pro-death groups to kill their children, even up to the ages of 5-6 years old if they can't survive on their own long enough to become viable. It's saddens one heart that this simple/basic common since truth has to be pointed out.

We dare not use the U.S. Constitutional argument to defend this human holocaust in America—after all it was a U.S. Constitutional right to own slaves —not a good defense to use the Constitution to defend the protocols of Planned Parenthood. We are dealing with what is right and what is wrong, NOT what is popular. Using pro-death logic, what Nazi Germany did was also perfectly legal under the laws of that sovereign nation at the time.

I'm not a smart person, but I can read and understand plain english. I have read the Constitution of the United States of America and I have yet to find where it says a mother has the right to kill her children.

I write this with a heart felt concern to defend and protect the truly unprotected and defenseless—while having a great compassion and sensitivity for people who are confronted with this very difficult life altering decision.

Some of the most comforting words ever spoken to this world were these: "today I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live"

I appreciate your deep faith and beliefs.

Now I ask you to respect mine as well.

Yes in Roe vs Wade the Supreme Court ruled that it was a woman's CONSTITUTIONAL right to privacy of her own body.

Now change that if you can, but until it is ruled otherwise, it is the law of the land.

You failed to mention if you are pro fetus or pro life? How much do you do to help those babies that are living outside of the womb? Do you advocate for increased funding, better and improved services, etc?

No more discussion..you have your beliefs, which I respect but disagree with. I have my faith, beliefs, and THE LAW stating it is a woman's choice.

Have a good day..and try empathy, tolerance and understanding of those who disagree with you.

Lacking moral clarity pro-death will always say... because a person opposes the killing of babies—they must therefore assume responsibility for all of society's ills. Its like saying you have no right to advocate for capital punishment since you've never been executed—or you cannot work to alienate cancer unless you have worked to cure AIDS. When all is said and done these statements are not an outrage but a distraction or a mis-direct. Weather or not a person has ever adopted a child does not in any way justify a Planned Parenthood abortionist killing one?

Without an objective moral foundation to justify an action, the tolerance card will always appear. Truth is abandoned, emotions and feelings have now the standard by which actions are judged. Tolerance is saying, you have your views, I have mine. It's an attempt to dismiss the evidence rather than refute it. When tolerance it touted—it's time to excuse yourself.

Sometimes I wonder what the 53 million America Holocaust victims who were deprived their right to live will say one day when they look upon this generation.

t's an attempt to dismiss the evidence rather than refute it.

No not to dispute but time to realize you are going on emotions without an open mind to view things differently than what you already have implanted in your mind.

No not to assume responsibility for all of society's ills...only the ones they force on others by refusing to allow others to have their own faith, their own views, their own moral outlook

Intolerance is what is harming our country. When someone thinks that tolerance is an attempt to dismiss evidence rather than refute it has no understanding of tolerance, compromise or empathy.

Bringing up the Holocaust has nothing to do with this discussion except make a good byline.

Bottom line..abortion is a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.

Planned Parenthood performs very few abortions (3%) of the total services offered. The vast majority of the services are for women's health care, things like breast exams, pelvic exams, contraceptives, std, etc NO FEDERAL MONEY goes to pay for abortion. It is the LAW been that way since 1976.

Dispute those facts..

The evidence speaks for itself. We all now have a choice to make, choose life my friends.

Thank you

Yes choose life by helping those babies who are living and breathing yet go to bed hungry and have no place to call home. Help those who are in urgent need of our care and compassion for more health care, education, food, shelter, and most of all our empathy and compassion.

They strained for the gnat—but ended up swallowing the Camel.

Guns are connected to 1,300 childhood deaths each year; Planned Parenthood accounts for only 327,653
